May 5th
This morning we packed our bags and headed north to Kibbutz Sdot Yam. We watched a movie and learned about Channa Senesh, a young Zionist woman who lived during the time of the Holocaust. The kibbutz is on the shore so we went and sat by the beach for a while. It was the most incredibly clear and beautiful water. It had so many shades of a pure blue. Before we left the Kibbutz we played on the playground Then we went to another beach in Caesarea and walked along the shore. From there we went north to a Druze hosting house where we heard a woman speak about their religion and ate a Druze lunch. After lunch we went to a Druze market and did some shopping . Then we went River rafting on the Jordan River! So much fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! It was actually so much fun! We were all pushed off the raft at least three times lol.
We were hungry so we went to a mall in Chatzor Haglilit and got pizza, falafel, and whatever. Then we drove to our new hotel and got settled in. It has been great so far!

May 4th
Since most of us were very jet-lagged, we had a very long night. But, we woke up in the morning and were really excited for a day filled with awesome touring. We began our day walking around Tel- Aviv and got to see where the original founders of Tel Aviv drew lots to distribute the plots of land upon which they would build their homes. We also got to see Migdal Ha’Shalom which used to be the tallest building in the Middle East. We then went to Independence Hall where we saw a short film explaining the history of Tel Aviv and proceeded into the hall where David Ben Gurion declared Israel’s independence. It was pretty cool being in the same room where Israel’s independence had been declared.
After independence hall, we drove to the Holon Museum where we experience what it’s like to be blind by walking through a museum in complete darkness. At first we were all freaked out but as we went through we began to adjust to the darkness. We walked through a forest, went on a boat ride, shopped in a market, felt our way around a kitchen, and listened to music. Not being able to see enhanced our other senses.
For lunch we went to a pizza place, where most of us got salad.
After lunch we went to Naot Kedumim a Biblical nature reserve where we learned about the difference between cisterns and wells and we got the awesome opportunity to herd sheep and harvest wheat. We made terrible Shepherds.
We then returned to the hotel, ditched the bus, and toured around Old Jaffa on foot. Over all today was an awesome day!!!!

May 2nd and 3rd
Early morning on May 2nd, 2011, Ariel, Miriam, and, Sofia arrived at the SFO airport. We went through security and boarded our plane. By the time we got to Philadelphia we were pretty tired.
As we boarded the plane we saw a large number of babies. How cute, right!?! But NO! They were cried entire 11 hour flight. Although we were not too excited about the whole “baby” situation, we got excited when we saw that we each seat had private TV screens that had unlimited free movies. We watched movies and slept the whole flight. We all awoke at once when we saw on our screens that we were 30 minutes away from landing. Our hearts started pounding. Fast, Faster. We unzipped our worn out backpacks and took out a stick of gum. 29 minutes passed. 1 more minute to go. We were so excited to finally land in the place that we have been learning about in our school forever. We had finally arrived in the place about which we have seen innumerable videos and pictures and heard many lectures. We had arrived! We made it to Israel!
We were greeted at Ben Gurion Airport by the Keshet madrichim (counselors), and we walked to our mini-bus. It was about a twenty minute drive to the hostel where we checked in and settled down. After we had cleaned up and reunited with Orli and Shira, we drove to the Jaffa port and looked at the view of the ocean. We played a few games and sat down and to write letters to ourselves. By that time we were all very hungry so we went to dinner at a restaurant called Café’ Kapiche. All the waiters in this café were deaf so we had to communicate with sign language, which was very hard and cool. When we finished with our delicious dinner we returned to our hostel and went to bed.
